Base officials will honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during a luncheon at the Wright-Patterson Club and Banquet Center here Jan. 14.

The event is open to all personnel with base access, including Airmen, civilian and contractor employees, retirees and their families.

Rev. Dr. Floyd H. Flake, President of Wilberforce University, Wilberforce, Ohio and Senior Pastor of The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Jamaica Queens, N.Y. will serve as guest speaker.

"Each year we proudly celebrate Dr. King's legacy," said Chaplain (Capt.) Dwayne Jones, protestant chaplain with the 88th Air Base Wing. "This year we are most fortunate to have Rev. Flake share Dr. King's message of hope. Rev. Flake is a former Congressman from the Empire State and a very gifted speaker. I encourage the base community to join us for this special day."

Also during the luncheon, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian award will be presented. The award recognizes a base person or organization working effectively for peace, justice and non-violence in the tradition of Dr. King.

The event is being organized by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Martin Luther King Committee. Program starts promptly at 11:30 a.m. and will run until about 1 p.m. Tickets are $11 for Club members and $13 for non-members.
