Premier Air Force entertainment group to perform at free concert Published Aug. 14, 2008 By Chris McGee 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio -- Tops in Blue, a premier U.S. Air Force entertainment group, will present a free, family friendly concert open to the public at the Ervin J. Nutter Center at Wright State University Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. The 2008 tour, entitled "Deja Blue," is a celebration of 55 years of Tops in Blue. The performance will feature revivals of favorite acts from past tours, along with new production numbers created for the 2008 tour. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Seating is general admission and parking is free. Tops in Blue's 2008 tour will take the group throughout the United States and to more than 25 countries, with close to 150 performances over a 10-month period. One of the oldest and most widely traveled entertainment groups of its kind, Tops in Blue is an all active-duty U.S. Air Force special unit made up of performers selected for their entertainment abilities. Composed of 40 vocalists, musicians, dancers and technicians, the group's primary purpose is to perform for military personnel and their families throughout the world. During its 55-year history, Tops in Blue has appeared on national television with legends such as Ed Sullivan, Bob Hope, Alabama, Barbara Mandrell, BOYZ II MEN and many others. Other group appearances include the Super Bowl XIX halftime show, NASCAR events, the NBA Finals and numerous performances for various heads of state and dignitaries around the world.
