Base exercise may cause gate delays, warning sirens Published Sept. 9, 2008 By Sue Murphy WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Base officials here will conduct base-wide exercises beginning Monday and lasting through Sept 17. Named Wounded Eagle, the exercise will test Wright-Patterson AFB personnel on their ability to handle emergencies such as terrorist activity, force protection changes, and disease containment. "These exercises are vital in preparing our Wright-Patt team for any contingency," said Carmen Riches, base exercise planning chief. "Experience is the best teacher." Most exercise activities will not impact the surrounding community. However, the exercise scenarios may generate increased security measures and base emergency response actions which could result in temporary traffic movement restrictions, gate delays, facility closures and warning sirens throughout the base. Base officials ask visitors to plan accordingly and appreciate everyone's continued cooperation and understanding.
