Base to continue exercise, Wounded Eagle Published Oct. 21, 2008 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Base officials here will continue base-wide exercises on Wednesday, Oct.22. Named Wounded Eagle 08-03 , the exercise will test Wright-Patterson AFB personnel on their ability to handle emergencies such as terrorist activity, force protection changes, and disease containment. The disease containment portion of the exercise involves a number of individuals simulated to be infected with smallpox. Exercises are not expected to impact the surrounding community. However, the exercise scenarios may generate increased security measures and base emergency response actions which could result in temporary traffic movement restrictions, gate delays, and facility closures across Wright-Patt. Base officials ask visitors to plan accordingly and appreciate everyone's continued cooperation and understanding.
