Country music superstar Aaron Tippin will take to the stage Friday, June 26, in a free concert that is part of the Air Force Materiel Command's fifth annual Freedom's Call Tattoo, held on the grounds behind the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force here.

The military celebration, which also will include aircraft flyovers, military presentations, the U.S. Air Force Band of Flight, technology displays and demonstrations as well as one of the largest fireworks shows in southwest Ohio, is free and open to the public. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m.; Mr. Tippin will take the stage at approximately 9 p.m.

This year's theme will focus around a salute to the country's "Greatest Generation," a term often used to describe Americans who served in the military and defended our country's freedom overseas during World War II, as well as those who served on the home front keeping the country intact.

The evening will salute the music, aircraft and ground vehicles of the era, but also will recognize the troops currently serving in the military, and showcase some of the aircraft in the current Air Force inventory.

Bringing a major music industry entertainer into the fold was first tested at the 2008 AFMC Tattoo with the inclusion of The Charlie Daniels Band, which contributed to the record-breaking crowd of 75,000 attendees.

"Tattoo enables the base as a whole to give back to the Miami Valley, a way to thank them for supporting the troops while at the same time showing folks some of our military capabilities," said Dave Egner, Tattoo director.

"We raised the bar last year by including a country legend who is a patriot for the troops. What better way to continue the tradition than the addition of Aaron Tippin, a gold and platinum record artist who first began performing for the troops when he toured with Bob Hope on a USO tour to Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War."
