Wright-Patterson authorizes early release of employees Published Jan. 14, 2009 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- In anticipation of accumulating snow and hazardous driving conditions, the installation commander here authorized commanders to implement a staggered early departure of non-base-essential employees beginning at 2 p.m. Jan. 14. Only base-essential personnel are to report for duty this evening. The staggered departure is designed to enable a safe and orderly departure of base personnel, said Col. Bradley Spacy, 88th Air Base Wing commander. Wright-Patterson Medical Center will continue to see patients with appointments this afternoon. Patients who do not feel they can safely make their appointment are requested to call that clinic to cancel. Emergency room will remain open as normal. Weather forecasters with Wright-Patt's 88th Operations Support Squadron said as of 1:30 p.m. 1 inch of snow had fallen on base today with additional accumulating snow expected to continue into the late evening. A low overnight temperature of 4 degrees Fahrenheit is expected on base with a windchill of 10 degrees below zero.
