Applications are now available online for high school seniors who are children and grandchildren of current Wright-Patterson military and government civilian employees to apply for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Educational Fund College Scholarships.

Over the past 24 years, the fund has awarded 754 scholarships totaling over $672,000 to recognize achievements of base-affiliated college-bound students. The fund, originally established in 1985 by retired Air Force Col. and Mrs. Nathan R. Rosengarten, is a means to reward academic excellence of the children and grandchildren of base personnel.

The fund is a tax exempt organization and part of the annual Combined Federal Campaign with 100% of contributions going directly in to scholarships. Volunteers from across Wright-Patt perform all administrative functions and operate the fund by contributing their time and effort.

To be eligible, the student must be a child or a grandchild of a current, full-time civilian employee or active-duty military member at Wright-Patterson AFB. Children and grandchildren of Reservists, contractors or Non-appropriated Fund employees are not eligible.

Applicants must be a high school senior graduating in 2009, have a cumulative 3.50 GPA and have a composite score of 27 on the ACT or a combined score of 1800 on the SAT. Combined SAT score must be the results of tests taken on the same day. Applicants will be reviewed by a panel of judges who rate the applications by a blind review process. The deadline for WPAFB Educational Fund application submission is midnight, 1 Apr 2009.

Applications are now available on-line and can be downloaded from the Wright-Patterson AFB Educational Outreach Website at: http://edoutreach.wpafb.af.mil/ed_outreach/pages/education_fund.html.
