WPAFB Civilian Career Broadening application process runs through Feb. 20

It's that time of year again for another excellent opportunity for base civilian employees! Wright-Patterson organizations have kicked off yet another cycle of the Collaborative Career Broadening Program (CCBP).

The application process began on Feb. 5 and runs through Feb. 20. This local program offers the Wright-Patterson civilian workforce the opportunity to broaden their functional and organizational experiences without leaving the Dayton area. Employees apply for positions in similar or different career series and/or organizations at their current grade. Positions range from GS-12 through GS-14 or payband equivalent. Those selected will be reassigned for up to two years to gain professional development.

Participating organizations are: Headquarters, Air Force Materiel Command (HQ AFMC), Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Air Force Security Assistance Center (AFSAC), 554th Electronic Systems Group (554th ELSG), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC). Employees assigned to these organizations can apply for positions offered at their current grade with a minimum of qualifications. This year's CCBP cycle offers positions from the following organizations: ASC, 88th ABW, AFRL, AFSAC, HQ AFMC and NASIC.

Some positions may be more restrictive based on the needs of the offering organization, such as security clearances, and education requirements. The competitive selection process is accomplished through an interview panel and based on employees' career goals, performance, and previous experiences. If selected, the employee will sign a take-back agreement with their organization to guarantee return rights to a position in their current series and grade. While serving on a career broadening position, employees are still eligible to compete for merit promotion opportunities and are not locked into any service or pay back agreement associated with the CCBP.

Collaborative Career Broadening Program officials announced Feb. 5 that there are 15 positions (Engineering & Non-Engineering) for this cycle, compared to having 11 positions offered the previous cycle.
