The activities are scheduled to kick off at 9:15 a.m. with remarks from Maj. Gen. Thomas Owen, director of logistics and sustainment, headquarters AFMC, who will highlight his take on the exciting event and the importance of safe riding. Following the opening remarks, the event will be split up into three parts with attractions and demonstrations set to run for the duration of the event. The first part of the event, the brief, which will be located in Carney Auditorium inside the National Museum of the United States Air Force, will give riders the opportunity to learn and review safety techniques from organizations and bikers who know them best. The base safety office, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the California Superbike School will share their insight on safer motorcycle riding during this session. This portion is mandatory for active duty members planning on participating in the second portion of the event, the ride. For the second part of the event, the riders in attendance will have the opportunity to partake on a group ride. The ride, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will be led by Lt. Brandon Snyder, president of the Wright Wriders organization, and will consist of a variety of on and off-base trails. Active duty members must have attended a certified motorcycle safety course in order to participate in the ride. Following the ride attendees will be treated to base services catered food and beverages on a "first come first served" basis. At this time, those attending will also be given the opportunity to view the various set-up demonstrations and attractions such as trials bike shows, a wheelie machine, stunt shows, California Superbike School and a motorcycle dyno. Lt. Snyder hopes his fellow riders will have an exciting time at the event and hopes base riders learn a little about safety, too. "It is essential that we improve skills and awareness as fellow riders at Wright-Patt," Snyder said. "Working to maintain a safe motorcycle community will ultimately provide a fun and exciting riding atmosphere for everybody." Sponsor booths will be set up for attendees to view and chat with local motorcycle affiliated businesses about the services they offer. Bike and gear vendors will also be on site advertising their services to attendees. The event, which is open to base riders and non-riders, is planned to have informative and exciting festivities which will give motorcyclists the opportunity to learn together and to ride together. In the case of rain, the picnic will be relocated to Bldg. 206 in area C. If you have questions or concerns, direct your emails to Brandon.snyder@us.af.mil or wade.appel@us.af.mil.
