Seasonal flu shots available for high-risk military beneficiaries

Wright-Patterson Medical Center will provide seasonal influenza immunizations for high-risk military beneficiaries Oct. 20-21 at building 142, Area C between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. 

High-risk individuals are children 6 months to 5 years old, pregnant women, people 50 years of age and older, people of any age with certain chronic health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), those who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, household contacts of person at high risk for complications from influenza, and household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age. 

Once these shot lines are complete, the Medical Center will provide seasonal vaccine to all empanelled members at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center Allergy and Immunization Clinic. 

Wright-Patterson Medical Center officials noted that they do not anticipate the arrival of H1N1 vaccine until late October.  Updates concerning availability of H1N1 immunizations will be provided on the Medical Center webpage at http://www.wpafb.af.mil/units/wpmc/  or Flu Hot Line at (937) 904-3588.

Building 142 is located in Area C on Skeel Avenue, northeast of Wright-Patterson's Base Operations and Passenger terminal.
