BEYA Honoree Blazes Trails for Others (Diversity) Published March 26, 2010 By Maria Callier Office of Scientific Research ARLINGTON, Virginia -- Mr. Ed Lee, Air Force Research Laboratory Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions program manager, recently received a Trailblazer Award at the 23rd Annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Global Competitiveness Conference, held in Baltimore, Maryland. Trailblazer honorees are men and women whose contributions are creating opportunities--opening doors--for others in STEM research and development. These individuals set their standards high, promote innovation, and otherwise pave the way for others to follow in becoming leaders themselves. Mr. Lee's work with HBCU/MIs is widely recognized as having a direct impact on the educational community. For more than two decades, the BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference has attracted top professionals and students from around the country and from every STEM-related field. Some participants are executives who are seeking innovative products and ideas or may be setting out in a new direction midway through their careers. Others are recent college graduates. Regardless of their respective situation, all conference attendees make themselves known by setting their sights ever higher and pursuing the connections and opportunities that steer them closer their goals.
