The Aeronautical Systems Center here will host the 2nd Annual Career Fair to fill professional mid-career level, non-entry level, positions at the Ervin J. Nutter Center's Arena on May 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. No pre-registration is required but applicants must enter at Gate 3.

Professionals with advanced degrees and/or specialized experience in the areas of Life Cycle Logistics, Finance, Contracting, Program Management and Engineering are encouraged to attend with resumes in hand. Hiring officials will be available to discuss job opportunities with attendees.

Approximately 5,000 job seekers attended the first ASC Career Fair with the outcome being better than estimated. While ASC originally planned to hire 50-60 individuals from the event, over 180 persons were hired as a direct result of the event.

This year's career fair is designed to build upon last year's success and refresh ASC's current inventory of resumes with newly available candidates and those who have acquired new experience and/or education.

Requirements for employment include: United States citizenship, having or being able to obtain a security clearance (some positions may require drug testing), occasional travel away from the normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft, and some positions may require the selectee to work overtime. Selections will be made without regard to non-merit factors such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, age, politics, disability, or sexual orientation, which do not relate to successful performance of the duties of the position except where specifically authorized by law.

The workforce hiring effort is key component of the Air Force's plan to recapture acquisition excellence by rebuilding an Air Force acquisition culture that delivers products and services as promised, on time, within budget and in compliance with all laws, policies and regulations.

Department of Defense plans call for adding about 20,000 workers across all services to the in-house acquisition workforce over the next several years.
