Wright-Patterson's Homeschool Education Event Published April 27, 2010 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Military families here electing to home school their children in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to attend Wright-Patterson's Homeschool Education event on May 5, from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Community and Family Center, Bldg. 230, Area C. As base organizations continue to observe and promote awareness for Year of the Air Force Family, this event is designed to help families opting to homeschool their children learn or reacquaint themselves with numerous services and resources available on base. According to Andrea Attaway-Young, School Liaison Officer here, one of her primary goals is to increase communication, while helping military families develop solutions to overcome barriers to successful education. This event will offer the base homeschooling community the opportunity to hear from senior leaders about Wright-Patt's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in order to achieve academic success for military children. Representatives from base organizations that offer programs/resources for military families also will be on hand to talk about services provided. Guest speakers in the know about current rules and regulations on homeschooling in the state of Ohio will brief, and attendees will hear about community resources and suggestions for field trips that enhance educational programming. Military parents attending this event are encouraged to bring their children, as age appropriate games/ activities will be provided. Please RSVP by 26 Apr to Andrea Attaway-Young at : andrea.attaway-young@wpafb.af.mil or call (937) 656-0942.
