The Wright-Patterson Antiterrorism office was named as the 2010 Best Antiterrorism Program in the U.S. Air Force.

The Antiterrorism Award recognizes those who work behind the scenes to protect USAF personnel, families, and facilities while also raising awareness and deterring terrorism.

"This really was a team effort, and several other offices were involved with our program as well" said Mark Myers, team leader of the 3-member team that was recognized for their Antiterrorism Program.

Throughout the program Mr. Myers and his team took innovative actions, trained others and practiced effective awareness management to make their program successful, according to the award citation.

The team increased force protection by implementing an automated Random Antiterrorism Measure Program, which is utilized to rapidly change the security posture of the base. The adoption of the program allows the installation to adapt to an ever changing world threat "on-the-fly."

"Our focus is keeping our personnel, base facilities and resources safe," Mr. Myers said.
The Antiterrorism office was also able to increase base safety here with the recent gate construction, which hardened three base entry points by building canopies and new ballistic booths.

Antiterrorism efforts span a much larger scope than just security and can be seen in a multitude of base-wide efforts such as the 88 Medical Group's training and detection programs for the H1N1 flu virus to protect personnel and their family members.
"Educating others is an easy way to create more awareness and safety base-wide," Mr. Myers said.

The team partnered with Special Agent Elaine Adams from AFOSI 10 FIS to execute the USAF's most aggressive Eagle Eyes program which has briefed 500+ local businesses and police. The program enables the public to report any suspicious activity to the base through a dedicated phone number and e-mail address.

"I am exceedingly proud of my team and all their accomplishments," Mr. Myers said
To do your part in helping combat terrorism, you can report any suspicious activity to the Eagle Eyes program by dialing 257-EYES (9597) or by sending an e-mail to: EagleEyes@wpafb.af.mil
