Wright-Patt sets Retiree Appreciation Day Published July 19, 2010 By Derek Kaufman 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Wright-Patterson officials announced the next Retiree Appreciation Day is planned for Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Hope Hotel adjacent to Gate 12A of the base. Retired Air Force Col. Paul Moore, director of the Retiree Activities Office, said the event is designed to inform and recognize all military retirees, spouses, widows and widowers throughout the Miami Valley. The annual event features guest speakers, free medical screening, refreshments, information booths and door prizes. Retired Army Maj. Gen. William Matz, President of the National Association for the Uniformed Services, is returning as a featured speaker to discuss retiree benefits and legislative issues. Col. Kimberly Slawinski, 88th Medical Group commander, is slated to provide an update and answer questions about healthcare services at Wright-Patterson Medical Center. "While we've traditionally geared this to military retirees from all the services, I think it will also be of interest to Airmen currently serving who are readying to retire in the next six to 12 months," Colonel Moore said. The Hope Hotel and Conference Center is located at Building 823 adjacent to Ohio State Route 444 in Fairborn, Ohio.
