Harlem Globetrotters, Slick Willie Shaw, to visit WPAFB Published Dec. 16, 2010 By Laura McGowan 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Harlem Globetrotters will visit the Prairies Child Youth Complex on December 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Their purpose is aimed at sharing their successful educational program for youth called "C.H.E.E.R. for Character." They will share the benefits of character development for youth. The CHEER program has received excellent reviews from teachers, administrators and students. It focuses on Cooperation, Healthy mind and body, Effort, Enthusiasm, and Responsibility. The Globetrotters designed the program with assistance from the U.S. Department of Education. While there are several different character traits emphasized by various programs across the country, Slick Willie Shaw will have a discussion with the children, which will be followed by a short basketball demonstration.
