WPAFB to hold 3rd Annual Career Fair at WSU Nutter Center Published May 2, 2011 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio, -- The Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will host the 3rd Annual Career Fair May 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wright State University's Nutter Center. This year's career fair is designed to refresh ASC's current inventory of resumes with newly available candidates and those who have acquired new experience or education. The resumes will be used to fill approximately 50 mid-career level positions at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Resumes are kept on file for one year from date collected. Professionals with advanced degrees and/or specialized experience in the areas of Life Cycle Logistics, Financial Management, Contracting/Procurement and Engineering are encouraged to attend with resumes in hand. Hiring officials will be available to discuss job opportunities with attendees. No pre-registration is required. Requirements for Federal employment include: United States citizenship, having or being able to obtain a security clearance (some positions may require drug testing), occasional travel away from the normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft. Some positions may require the selectee to work overtime. Selections will be made without regard to non-merit factors such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, age, politics, disability, or sexual orientation, which do not relate to successful performance of the duties of the position except where specifically authorized by law. Who should attend the Career Fair? · United States citizens with specialized experience and/or education in Finance, Contracting/Procurement, Life Cycle Logistics and Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace and Systems Engineers). What should I expect? Will I be interviewed at the Career Fair? · Attendees will each receive a ticket upon arrival which will assist with traffic flow through the career fair. We request attendees to go to the functional area that best fits their experience, skills and abilities. Attendees will be asked to have a seat in the arena until their ticket number is called and they will proceed to the arena floor. · Attendees will have approximately 5 minutes with functional experts to share their skills and experience. After the career fair, functional managers will contact those highly qualified candidates from the career fair to conduct further in-depth interviews. Is a security clearance required? · You do NOT need a clearance to be considered for the positions we are filling. However, candidates must be able to obtain one if you are offered a position. Is pre-registration required? · NO, pre-registration is not necessary. Where do I enter the Nutter Center? · All attendees need to enter the Nutter Center at Gate 3. Am I required to have a degree? · The Office of Personnel Management publishes qualifications standards for all federal jobs. Engineering positions have a positive education requirement--meaning that candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). · Contracting requires a Bachelors Degree with 24 semester credit hours in any of the following disciplines: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, quantitative methods, organization and management. · Other functional areas do not have a minimum education requirement--meaning you can qualify for positions based upon specialized experience only. However, all functional areas desire candidates with bachelor's or master's degrees.
