Wright-Patt awards $82.5 million SABER contract Published June 14, 2011 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Base officials announced the simplified acquisition of base engineering requirements, often referred to as SABER, contract had been awarded to a joint venture of North Island and Centennial Construction (Central NICC, JV, LLC) of Falls Church, Va. The SABER contract is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a maximum value of $82.5 million. The period of performance is for one year, followed by four 1-year option periods. The contract allows the 88th Civil Engineer Division to issue work orders to the contractor for items such as real property maintenance, repair, alteration or new construction. With more than 800 structures, many which are more than 70 years old, spread over 8,000 acres, keeping the infrastructure that supports Wright-Patterson's many missions functioning is a demanding job. "This contract is vital for the 88th Air Base Wing to keep the base operating," said Col. Amanda Gladney, 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander. "We are confident we have selected a team that is capable of meeting our many requirements at the best value for the Air Force." Officials anticipate starting the initial period of performance within the next 30 days.
