Improved Warfighter Capability through Policy, Processes and People on agenda at Systems Engineering Conference

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio --  The second annual Air Force Systems Engineering Conference will be held on 16-18 August, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dayton, Ohio.

"Improved acquisition performance starts with experienced professionals, using the right analytic tools and processes, all supported by transparent decision-making." said Russell Howard, Director, Engineering and Technical Management, HQ AFMC/EN.

To put the right tools in the right hands the Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command Engineering & Technical Management Directorate, in partnership with the office of the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition and Management and the Air Force Center for Systems Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology, will host the Air Force Systems Engineering Conference.
Conference activities will be centered on the theme: Systems Engineering: Supporting acquisition decision-making executed by experienced professionals using the right tools and processes. "The target audience are systems engineering leaders and practitioners across the Air Force, sister services, industry and academic partners" said Howard "This will be a awesome opportunity bringing systems engineers, program managers, logisticians, scientists, and many other acquisition specialties together to discuss and further Systems Engineering communication and best practices throughout the Air Force, DoD, and civilian business sectors."

Systems Engineering is the interdisciplinary approach and means that make possible the realization of successful systems. From a Department of Defense perspective, Systems Engineering can be described as defining a warfighter's needs, ensuring the warfighter gets what they need, when they need it. From a civilian point of view, the same interdisciplinary approach can be defined as the structured, disciplined, and documented technical efforts to satisfy the operational needs of customers.
