WPAFB Retiree Appreciation Day coming Oct. 28 Published July 14, 2011 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- A former U.S. Navy aviator is slated to be one of the banner speakers during the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Retiree Appreciation Day on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at the Hope Hotel. Retired Commander Katherine O'Neil Tracy, who in 1981 was designated the Navy's 54th female aviator, is now deputy director of Benefits Information, Military Officers Association of America. She will provide a benefits and entitlements update to include a discussion on Tricare changes and the effects of healthcare reform legislation on Tricare benefits structure. An Air Force retiree, Morgan D. Brown, director of Military and Government Relations, Air Force Sergeants Association, will discuss legislative proposals and their impact on military retirees. The annual Retiree Appreciation Day event features guest speakers, free medical screening, refreshments, information booths and door prizes. It is hosted by the Retiree Activities Office to recognize and share information of interest to all military retirees, spouses, widows and widowers throughout southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky and eastern Indiana. Refreshments are available starting at 7 a.m. with an opening ceremony scheduled at 8 a.m. Retired Col. Paul Moore, director of Wright-Patt's Retiree Activities Office said other planned updates include a dicussion on Wright-Patterson Medical Center medical policies and facility enhancements, and the new Defense Biometric Identification System or DBIDS, used by installation sentries to speed access and enhance security. Base Security Forces personnel plan to have DBIDS registration stations on site during Retiree Appreciation Day for military retirees to register in DBIDS.
