Retiree Appreciation Day details announced Published Sept. 20, 2012 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Wright-Patterson's installation commander will open this year's Retiree Appreciation Day, Oct. 26 at the Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center. Col. Cassie B. Barlow, 88 Air Base Wing commander, will participate in the opening ceremony for the annual event focused on sharing important information and recognizing military retirees in the greater Dayton - Cincinnati region. "I sincerely hope many retirees will join us for this year's program. We have several great presenters lined up, and numerous service agencies and veterans organizations will be available to answer questions and provide literature," said Colonel Barlow. "If you need additional incentive, our Retiree Activities Office director, Col. Paul Moore, tells me a number of agencies are generously donating door prizes." Schedule of events: 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. - Registration and light refreshments 8:15. - Colonel Barlow will present opening remarks, including an update on plans for Ohio Route 444 in the vicinity of Wright-Patterson AFB. 8:30 - Col. Michael Schaffrinna, 88th Medical Group deputy commander, will provide an update on Wright-Patterson Medical Center and current health care issues. 9:15 - Earl Roberts, Annuity Department manager, Defense Finance and Accounting Service Cleveland, will discuss recent changes in retiree and annuitant pay policies. 10:00 - Retired Navy Cdr. Katherine O'Neil Tracy, deputy director of Benefits Information, Military Officers Association of America, will discuss health care reform, Tricare changes and TRICARE For Life benefits structure. 10:30 - Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Morgan Brown, director, Military and Government Relations, Air Force Sergeants Association, will share ongoing legislative actions impacting military retirees. 11:30 - Optional, cash only, luncheon buffet 11:30 - 3 p.m. - Agency display kiosks manned; door prizes throughout the afternoon.
