EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson, right, accepts the position of Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons from Lt. Gen. C.D. Moore II, commander, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio during an official ceremony April 4. General Jansson succeeds Maj. Gen. Kenneth Merchant, who will transfer to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., to become director of global reach programs. Jansson comes to Eglin after serving almost two years as the commander of Defense Logistic Agency Aviation, a field activity of the DLA. headquartered in Richmond, Va. The PEO will lead the Armament Directorate at Eglin, and report to the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Washington, D.C. and AFLCMC. The directorate is responsible for enhancing worldwide Air Force combat capability, effectiveness, aircrew survivability, and readiness through joint development, test, procurement, deployment and sustainment of air delivered weapon systems.
