The Air Force Research Laboratory has expanded its STEM efforts in the Rio Grade Corridor, joining in an educational partnership agreement with the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. The partnership agreement facilitates collaborative research opportunities between AFRL and the university, improving career opportunities for students, advancing technological development in the state of New Mexico, and expanding STEM education outreach initiatives throughout the state's educational system.

AFRL has agreements in place with the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University to loan or provide surplus laboratory equipment; to make laboratory personnel available to teach science courses and to assist in developing those courses; to involve faculty and students in research projects; and to develop a program for students to earn credit for working on AFRL projects.

The latest agreement adds the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology to the institutions whose partnership provides far-reaching benefits to both. AFRL is committed to STEM outreach efforts, channeling energy into programs that will help ensure a well-educated workforce ready to address the country's technological needs.
