Air Force Marathon sells out; Race Transfer progam announced Published July 9, 2013 By Tiffany Johnson U.S. Air Force Marathon Office WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Air Force Marathon has officially sold out all races and organizers have announced details for the transfer program. "The transfer program is the only official way for runners to give their bib to another runner," said Race Director Rob Aguiar. "Along with the charity partner slots, it is the only way for someone not currently registered to secure a spot." The transfer program will open on July 22 at 9 a.m. EST and run through August 1 till 5 p.m. EST. Runners who wish to transfer their bib will be able to register on the AF Marathon website and will be given a special code. That code will allow another non-registered runner to register under that person's bib. Costs for the transfer program vary for each race and charges will apply to the person transferring in to a race. This is the only official way to transfer a bib. "Running a race without the correctly registered bib is against race rules," said Mr. Aguiar. "It's important for safety and health reasons that we know who is running our course." Race Transfer program processing fee: Full Marathon $30 Half Marathon $25 10K $20 5K $10 The Air Force Marathon's nine charity partners also have limited full and half marathon spots available. More information on fundraising requirements and the charities are available on our website at www.usafmarathon.com/Registration/Charity_partners.htm. "We highly recommend runners consider our charity partners," said Mr. Aguiar. "Each charity partner organization has a wonderful cause and each runner helps raise money for the charity." The 2013 Air Force Marathon is Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The 5K is Friday, Sept. 20, at Wright State University's Nutter Center. The Sports & Fitness Expo will also be at the Nutter Center on Thursday, Sept. 19, and Friday, Sept. 21. Volunteer registration for all jobs and shifts are open now and you can register at www.usafmarathon.com.
