Wright-Patterson honors 120th anniversary of first human powered flight

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – A ceremony honoring the 120th anniversary of the first human powered flight will be held at the Wright Brothers Memorial at 10 a.m. Dec. 15.

The memorial is located on Wright Memorial Hill near Area B and is open to the public. 

Base leadership will provide opening remarks.  

Maj. Gen. Dale White, program executive officer for Fighters and Advanced Aircraft at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, will serve as the guest speaker.  

The event will conclude with a wreath-laying ceremony attended by members of the Wright family and a flyover of a T-6 Texan aircraft.

The annual ceremony was created in 1978 for the 75th anniversary of the first flight.
