WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The AFLCMC Leadership Symposium is now open for registration!!!  We have created an opportunity for current leaders and those aspiring to become leaders to gain insight from various senior leaders at Wright-Patterson AFB. The Leadership Symposium is scheduled for 6-8 June 2023, with the ability to attend either virtual or in-person. June will be here before you know it, so don’t put off registering as soon as possible.  Seats fill up fast! Registration will be open until three business days prior to the course start date and time.

The first offering of the Leadership Symposium was held in the late 1990s. Dr. Vince Russo, former ASC Executive Director, decided to create a forum for ASC supervisors on leadership. Dr. Russo read the book “Leadership Challenge” by Kouzes and Posner in 2002 and decided to construct a program in which senior leaders across the installation verbalized the leadership principles written within the book: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. Dr. Russo added a 6th principle, that was not in the book, titled Having Fun, which the authors referenced in later versions of the book. As the Leadership Symposium’s interest grew larger, the Center’s Executive Director opened it up to all base employees regardless of grade or rank.

Each module of the symposium focuses on leadership principles and training that will be beneficial for current supervisors and those with aspirations to supervise or lead by developing skills necessary for leading in today’s, as well as tomorrow’s workforce. The symposium also focuses on understanding what employees look for and admire in their leadership.

Registration is open to all WPAFB military and civilian employees. Register via MyETMS at https://myetms.wpafb.af.mil.  Click on the “Self-Registration” tab and search for “Leadership Symposium” and click “View Courses”.  Select the offering you would like to attend, either in person at the Sarris Auditorium or virtually.
