ASMC volunteers laid wreaths Dec. 17 at Dayton National Cemetery with Blue Star Families as part of Wreaths Across America. A week earlier, the group assisted Blue Star Families as it hosted a holiday party for the Ohio Army National Guard’s 637th Chemical Company in Beavercreek. In early December, eight chapter members volunteered 24 hours to the St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter for Women and Families in downtown Dayton by putting up holiday decorations and playing bingo with winner gifts – all provided by ASMC donations. ASMC had 28 members volunteer more than 60 hours Nov. 17 at Crayons to Classrooms, a local organization providing free classroom materials to teachers in high-need districts. They sorted and packed books and made bulletin board supplies. That same month, the group also worked with Blue Star Families to pack boxes with stockings and supplies for 72 Army Reserve Soldiers from the 497th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion deployed overseas. “ASMC is proud of our member dedication to serve our community and looks forward to many more events into 2023,” said Dawn Holding, Aviation Chapter president. “Contact us to get involved.” ASMC is a professional military comptroller organization at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base that includes more than 450 members, with a mission focused on education and training, professional development, networking and volunteerism. If you are a civilian, service member or contractor and would like to join or learn more about the organization, go to the Aviation Chapter website at www.asmc-aviation.org or contact ASMC President Dawn Holding at dawn.holding.1@us.af.mil.
