WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Wright-Patterson Air Force Base joins the Department of Defense in recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Observed every October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities, past and present, and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices.

In recognition of the vital role people with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive American workforce, this year’s theme is “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation.

Team Wright-Patt seeks to build a community and workforce culture that embraces diversity and inclusivity.

People with disabilities are part of a diverse group that includes individuals with sensory, physical and mental conditions. Disabilities cross lines of age, ethnicity, sex, race, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status.

Almost everyone is likely to experience some form of disability – temporary or permanent – at some point in their lives.

A strong workforce is the sum of many parts and disability has always been a key part of the equation. People with disabilities make up a wonderfully multifaceted group. By recognizing the full complexion of our community, we can ensure our efforts to achieve disability inclusion are, in fact, truly inclusive.Assistant Secretary for Disability Employment Policy Taryn M.
