WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Company Grade Officers’ Council has announced its new board members for fall 2022. All executive positions have a six-month term, starting July 1 and running through Dec. 31.

“This organization promotes networking through professional development and both social and community service events,” said Capt. Zoe Colgan, CGOC vice president, a licensed clinical social worker at the 88th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron. “We encourage every lieutenant and captain on base to utilize this opportunity in order to build camaraderie and gain a family away from their family. It is not always easy to adjust to a new base and connect socially with others; it takes time.”

Voting occurred June 10-23, and results were released June 24.

Here are the new board members:

  • President: Capt. Dean LaMonica, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center
  • Vice president: Colgan
  • Professional development: Capt. Daniel Henry, AFLCMC
  • Director of operations: 2nd Lt. Naya Gillespie, National Air and Space Intelligence Center
  • Social chair: Capt. Denita Guthery, Air Force Research Laboratory

“These individuals organize different events and opportunities for the CGOs to connect and make a positive impact on and off base,” Colgan said. “We create the win-win opportunity by helping others while growing professionally.”

The Company Grade Officers’ Council represents more than 47,000 junior military officers of the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and Space Force. Through local councils on nearly 100 bases and military installations across four regions, including Europe and the Pacific, CGOs (captains and lieutenants) promote professional development and community service through volunteer projects and networking events.

CGOC is a volunteer group composed of military members who seek to grow as officers, give to their base and community, and have fun with friends through fellowship, according to Colgan.

For instance, the WPAFB council is part of the 75th anniversary of USAF Gala Committee Planning Group, she said: “We have more projects that are in the planning stage. Usually, those projects consist of volunteering, mentoring (and) entertaining.”
