WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The 2022 History and Heritage Race Series takes off Dec. 1 with its first featured historical aircraft, the 1938 J-3 Cub, and corresponding virtual race registration in the ascent to the Air Force Marathon 2022.

Used by the Civil Air Patrol to hunt enemy submarines, report damaged ships, tow aerial targets and deliver integral war materials during WWII, the plane’s versatility and bright “Cub Yellow” symbolizes the CAP’s essential role in the U.S. Air Force.

The first race in series will span January and February. Anytime during those months, participants may run or walk the full marathon, half marathon, 10K or 5K distance wherever they’d like, track it with a GPS-tracking device to confirm their mileage and time and upload their results.

All registered participants will receive a commemorative patch, a finisher’s medal portraying the J-3 Cub, an information card on the aircraft and a downloadable finisher certificate.
