Sought after mentorship program deadline quickly approaching Published July 21, 2017 By John Harrington 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Military and civilian Airmen of all ranks and grades interested in reaching their maximum potential have until August 25 to enroll in this year’s Team Wright-Patt Mentoring Program, with those mentees applying early having the greatest chance of being matched to a mentor. The year-long Team Wright-Patt Mentoring Program provides opportunities for mentees to learn from someone outside of their functional area while allowing mentors to sharpen their leadership skills through challenging and coaching their mentees. For the first time this year, lower-level supervisors have the ability to request supervisory mentoring by higher-level supervisors. Overall, both mentors and mentees who successfully complete the program will end up with a well-rounded understanding of their role in the bigger Air Force mission, as well as an appreciation for what others contribute to it. Over 300 mentor and mentee volunteers from across Wright-Patterson participated in the program last year, designed to further professional development, develop new perspectives, demonstrate strengths and explore potentials. The program is comprised of three components: individual mentorship, group mentorship events and job shadowing. Individual mentorship will use one-on-one sessions to share ideas and field questions. Group mentorship will include events designed to discuss career development, setting goals and gathering valuable insight on professional development and leadership. Job shadowing is comprised of individual and event shadowing, including decisional meetings, formal ceremonies, informational briefings, conferences and other events offering career broadening and professional development. Those interested in participating in the Team Wright-Patt Mentoring Program should complete the enrollment form at https://org2.eis.af.mil/sites/21288/FSS/FSD/FSDE/MP/default.aspx.
