WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The 88th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation’s Famcamp, located at Bass Lake in Area A, Building 4057, provides boats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboats (one pirate shaped paddleboat) fishing poles, hybrid cruiser bikes and Wright-Patterson Air Force base fishing licenses. Reservations can be made from noon to 7 p.m.

Equipment may be rented hourly, for 24 hours, or for three days at very reasonable prices. A state license is not required to fish the land-locked lakes such as Bass, Gravel & Twin lakes.

“The boat dock is under renovation and will hopefully be open soon," said Brandon Dixon, director of Outdoor Recreation at the Outdoor Recreation Air Force Services, based in Building 95, Area A.

“The Famcamp office also provides soda, ice cream, candy and of course night crawlers,” Dixon said.

Campers and visitors can boat and fish peacefully because gas boat motors and swimming are not allowed.

“Famcamp is a great place for recreation, water sports and families to gather for camping because the campground is open all year round,” said Dixon. “A bath house, laundry, electric and dump system are provided for RV’s and campers.”

Tent camping is also available.
