WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The 88th LRS Fuels Flight works 24/7 through-out the year to keep planes flying and vehicles running at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Fuels Flight personnel manage fuel supplies, including everything from refueling aircraft to utilizing bulk storage tanks, supplying fuel for two military gas stations and providing fuel oil for buildings in Area A and B.

“We receive, store, issue, perform sampling, testing accounting for all petroleum products and cryogenics on base,” said Jackie Highlander, terminal manager for fuels services, “We manage the fuels contract for Defense Logistics Agency-Energy.”

“Our service provides five types of fuel products - Jet-A, low sulfur diesel via refueling units,

bio-diesel, unleaded and E-85 for the gas stations,” according to Highlander. “Managing the fuels contract for DLA is unique because of several different entities to report to, DLA energy, the AF Petroleum Office, service control point for AF Fuels, and the 88th Air Base Wing and 445th Airlift Wing.”

The LRS Fuels Flight has tankers that can hook up to hydrants and fuel is pumped directly from bulk storage tanks to aircraft. C300 grounds fuels vehicles can refuel generators and vehicles that are too big for gas stations. They also have tankers with fuel oil for buildings.

88th LRS Fuels Flight is located in Area A, Building 154. It operates around the clock day of the year.
