Arbor Day event will support efforts to protect trees, woodlands Published April 3, 2017 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- A celebration in recognition of Arbor Day will be held April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Wright Brothers Memorial, 2380 Memorial Road, on top of the Wright Brothers Memorial Hill overlooking Huffman Prairie. The event will open with Col. Bradley McDonald, 88th Air Base Wing commander, reading a proclamation in honor of the day. Students from Baker Middle School in Fairborn will plant four trees at the memorial and receive free tree seedlings. A forester from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will make a presentation to the students, as will a National Park Service official. Base personnel are welcome to attend and receive one of 100 free seedlings, provided by 88th Civil Engineer Group, Installation Management, Environmental Branch, from 9:30 a.m. till noon.
