2017 Air Force Assistance Fund Campaign kicks off on April 10 Published March 28, 2017 By Stacey Geiger 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – With a theme of "Commitment to Caring" the 44th annual Air Force Assistance Fund campaign at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will begin April 10 and run until May 19. The AFAF campaign is an annual event to raise funds for AFAF affiliated charities that assist active-duty, Reserve, Guard and retired Air Force personnel and their families. “Whether it is a family experiencing a financial hardship, an Airman needing help with educational expenses, or a widow needing assistance with securing a retirement home, AFAF can help with those financial challenges,” said 2nd Lt. Jacob Johnson, installation primary project officer. In 2016, Wright-Patterson Airmen contributed $142,641 and although this year’s campaign goal is $123,281, Johnson is optimistic that team Wright-Patt will pull together and exceed that goal. Airmen have the option to donate to one or more of the four AFAF charities, the Air Force Village Charitable Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Enlisted Village, and the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation. During the AFAF campaign, organizational key workers will make 100 percent contact with each military member and military retiree here at Wright-Patterson AFB. Although there is a large civilian population here at Wright-Patterson AFB, civilians cannot be solicited for donations but are invited to contribute. Civilians who wish to contribute to AFAF should contact their organizational keyworker. Donations to the AFAF can be made by cash or check, and active-duty and retired members can utilize the convenience of payroll deduction. Contributions to the AFAF are tax deductible as an itemized federal deduction. In addition to giving through the AFAF campaign, if members would prefer to donate with a credit card, individuals can go to the charity websites to make a donation: Air Force Aid Society: https://www.afas.org/donate Air Force Enlisted Village: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E109219&id=4 Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation: http://www.blueskiesoftexas.org/foundation/donate/ Gen. and Mrs. Curtis E.
