Handful of records set at 2014 marathon

Four Air Force Marathon participants set race records during the 18th annual Air Force Marathon Sept. 20 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

Kenneth Bestine, 48, of Cly-mer, New York, set the record for the overall male full marathon wheelchair division with a time of 1:18:23, beating the previous record of 1:22:43 set by Bruce Chase in 2012.
 
Holly Koester, 54, of Walton Hills, Ohio, improved on her own record of 2:20:36 set in 2013 with a new time of 2: 13:04 in the overall female full marathon, wheelchair division.  

In the male overall half marathon, Josh Ordway, 34, of Waynesville, Ohio, set a new record of 1:07:17, just eclipsing the previous mark of 1:07:32 set by Ben Payne in 2012.

Anne Portlock, 32, of Bloomington, Indiana, set a new record for the overall Military Female in the 10K distance, posting a time of 39:17 and besting the previous record of 40:52 set by Katie Eligass in 2008.

More than 15,000 participants took part in the 10K, half marathon and full marathon events as well as the 5K race, which took place on Sept. 19 at the Wright State University's Nutter Center.

The 19th annual Air Force Marathon is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2015.

Registration for the race opens Jan. 1, 2015.
