Thompson to lead AFLCMC Published Oct. 3, 2014 By 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Oh. -- Lt. Gen. John Thompson officially took command of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Oct. 2 after taking part in a change of command ceremony at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force Sept. 26. As AFLCMC commander, Thompson replaces Lt. Gen. C.D. Moore, II, who is retiring from the Air Force after serving 38 years. While addressing the men and women of AFLCMC along with distinguished guests during the ceremony, Thompson stressed the importance of the work AFLCMC does on a day-to-day basis. "Our Air Force needs AFLCMC and, more specifically, it needs you," the general said. During the ceremony, Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger, Air Force Materiel Command commander and the ceremony's presiding official, lauded the accomplishments of AFLCMC and Moore, the center's outgoing commander. During his comments, Moore thanked the men and women of AFLCMC for their efforts and noted their successes. Thompson noted the accomplishments of AFLCMC under Moore's leadership and said he was looking forward to taking AFLCMC to the next level. Thompson, who previously was the Program Executive Officer for AFLCMC's Tanker Directorate, was promoted to lieutenant general in a pinning-on ceremony prior to the change of command.
