WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Connecting Airmen with their heritage is one of the goals of the 72nd Air Force anniversary celebration being hosted by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Business and Enterprise Systems Directorate.

The celebration will be held Sept. 18 at the Wright-Patterson Club from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

The event will feature guest speakers who served in wars and conflicts from WWII to present day. They will provide an overview of their service and describe what the U.S. Army Air Force and U.S. Air Force was like during their tenure.

“Our theme is ‘The Legacy Continues’ and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 72nd anniversary than with heroes representing important eras in our Air Force and nation’s history,” said 2nd Lt. Joseph Montero, program manager and one of the anniversary organizers. “It’s going to be a great event and I encourage folks to stop by.”

Speakers will include:

Col. (ret) Russel Hastler, a Congressional Gold Medal recipient who also served during WWII and in Korea.

Lt. Col. (ret) Harold Brown, a Tuskegee Airman and former prisoner of war, who served during WWII and in Korea.

Col. (ret) Tom Moe, a former F-4 Pilot and prisoner of war, who served during the conflict in Vietnam.

CMSgt. (ret) Mark Silliman, a former missile maintainer and command chief of 20th Air Force, during the height of the Cold War.

Maj. Kristi Buczek, a Remotely Piloted Aircraft pilot and instructor.

The event is free and open to anyone with access to the base.
