WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- A monthly workshop series starting April 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. will explore the many e-learning resources offered by the Information Learning Center, Bldg. 1226, 5435 Hemlock St., Kittyhawk Center, Area A, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The interactive workshops on alternative learning resources are made possible by the ILC and Education and Training personnel.

The Summer 2017 Workshop Series will cover the following topics:

  • April 27: Language/culture

  • May 25: Downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, digital magazines

  • June 29: Educational resources

  • July 27: Research databases

  • Aug. 31: UniversalClass

  • Sept. 28: Air Force e-Learning

The objectives of the series, said Donald Griffin, chief of base training/formal schools, are to expose a wider workforce audience to e-learning opportunities; provide alternatives that supplement face-to-face learning opportunities used to meet personal and professional development objectives; assist the Air Force community in the transition from traditional library activities to digital capabilities and services; and connect all of installation patrons to no-cost, do-it-yourself digital resources.

“The Air Force provides a tremendous inventory of information databases and online resources that can be used to enhance personal and professional knowledge,” he said.

“We believe our initial six-part summer series workshops will have something for everyone. Whether you’re a high school student looking for ACT/SAT study references, a service member deploying that needs information on language and culture, or if you’re studying for a CLEP exam, or someone looking for courses that help enhance business and technology skills, this series is for you,” Griffin concluded.

Everyone that has base privileges is welcome to register for all six workshops or one that meets their particular interest or need. Participants are encouraged to bring their personal electronic devices; WiFi is available. Seating is limited to 30; call, email or visit to make a reservation for the workshops.
