The Dayton Chapter of the American Red Cross and their representatives wanted to say thanks for all of the support from the military at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, according to Laura Seyfang, Dayton Area Chapter executive of the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross' Emergency Response Vehicle, with four Red Cross personnel came to Wright-Patterson AFB on March 26 and set up their ERV truck in front of the Army & Air Force Exchange to hand out brochures of their services as well as free coffee from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The ERV is a small truck that the Red Cross uses for disaster relief care and feeding those in need.

Red Cross volunteers who participated in the outreach effort included Loretta Johanson, who worked for many years on base in Bldg. 1, Area A, and continued to volunteer after she retired. Johanson is currently in her 58th year of volunteering for the Red Cross and now coordinates 40 Red Cross volunteers who serve at the Wright-Patterson Medical Center daily. Another volunteer is Andy Walsh, retired military and currently a civilian working at Air Force Life Cycle Management Center as chief, Policy & Processes Branch.
