Air Force Marathon looks to fill final volunteer slots Published Aug. 26, 2026 By Air Force Marathon Office 88th Mission Support Group WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The 30th annual Air Force Marathon is less than a month away, and organizers are still looking for volunteers to help support the event. About 500 volunteers are still needed this year, officials said. Registration is 70% filled, and the sign-up period ends Sept. 6, 2026. "Our volunteers are the heart of the Air Force Marathon," said Jasmine Gwin, Air Force Marathon race director. "Their dedication, time and commitment are what help bring this event to life. The marathon would not be possible without them, and we are incredibly grateful for the countless ways they support our runners and our mission." Photo Details / Download Hi-Res All volunteers will receive a complimentary volunteer T-shirt and patch, refreshments at the expo and on race day, and an invitation to the post-race party. Volunteer shifts vary depending on the position, but most commitments are four hours or less, with times ranging from early morning to evening. Some volunteer roles are open to the public while others require base access. Individual volunteers must be 16 or older. Children under 16 can volunteer only with a parent, guardian or trusted adult.
