Dr. James C. Miller, senior research physiologist for the Air Force Research Laboratory's Human Effectiveness Directorate, Bio-Behavioral Performance Branch  at Brooks City-Base, Texas, received the Henry L. Taylor Founder's Award at the May 14 meeting of the Aerospace Human Factors Association held in conjunction with the 78th Aerospace Medical Association annual meeting in New Orleans.

The Founder's Award, funded by a University of Illinois Institute of Aviation endowment, recognizes an individual's outstanding contributions in the field of aerospace human factors. The winner is selected based on research and publications; special original contributions such as equipment, techniques, and procedures; or general leadership in the field for a teacher, director of laboratory, or officer of scientific societies.

This is the fourth year in a row that an AFRL Human Effectiveness researcher has won the Founder's Award; other recent winners were Dr. Bill Storm, Dr. Bill Albery , and Dr. Glenn Wilson.

Previous awardees have represented the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA and several major universities. As the 2006 winner, Dr. Wilson gave the invited address at the 2007 meeting and Dr. Miller will provide the invited address next year.

The Air Force Research Laboratory is headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
