The 2007 Miami Valley Combined Federal Campaign is in full swing and unit representatives are working on getting 100 percent contact in their offices.

This year's campaign kicked off with an agency fair at the Ervin J. Nutter Center at Wright State University Oct. 3.

Representatives from 112 local, national and international charities were on hand to discuss their respective organization's mission with members of the federal workforce, including those at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and to provide them with information.

Last year, the base raised $2,569,543 for the CFC; this year's goal is $2,215,051.

The base is part of the larger Miami Valley CFC, which raised more than $2.9 million last year. Officials hope to see the overall Miami Valley CFC figure reach $3 million this year.

More than 2,000 charities are participating in CFC this year, with more than 300 of those located in the Miami Valley.

Last year, the Miami Valley area donated 46 percent to local agencies, 48 percent to national agencies and six percent to international agencies.

The theme for this year's Miami Valley CFC is "Help Our World Forward."

According to Sally Easterling, 88 Air Base Wing CFC chairperson, the campaign presents the base workforce with a pivotal opportunity to support worthy charities that touch countless lives locally and beyond.

"There are so many great organizations that support every possible need in the community and around the world today," Ms. Easterling said. "Federal employees have the opportunity to give from their hearts; whether it's $1 or $1,000, every donation makes a difference."

Base employees should begin receiving their pledge forms and booklets immediately, or may have already received them. The goal is to make 100 percent employee contact within the first two weeks of the campaign.
