711th Human Performance Win

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE -- Brian Simpson, engineering research psychologist with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), 711th Human Performance Wing, Human Effectiveness Directorate (711 HPW/RH), Warfighter Interface Division, Battlespace Acoustics Branch (RHCB), received the Harry G. Armstrong Scientific Excellence Award for 2009 at the 711 HPW Annual Awards Banquet held January 22 at the Wright-Patt Club.

The Armstrong Award, which commemorates Maj. General Armstrong's pioneering career in aerospace medicine research at Wright-Patterson AFB, is given annually for the HPW's most significant scientific or technical accomplishment.

Mr. Simpson was selected for his innovative work in battlespace acoustics research, including serving as principal investigator and team lead for the analysis and processing of complex auditory scenes.

Simultaneous ceremonies were held at HPW research sites at Brooks City-Base, Texas and Mesa, Arizona. Other winners for 2009 include:
