Unit leaders and the base community gathered March 22 to celebrate the group at a release party in the Wright-Patt Club. “Making (senior master sergeant) is no small feat,” said Lt. Gen. Donna Shipton, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center commander. “This promotion is a recognition of both an outstanding career to date and the potential to lead our total force Airmen with greater responsibility.” In this year’s cycle, 1,734 Airmen were chosen for promotion among a pool of 15,151 eligible master sergeants across the Air Force, a selection rate of 11.44%. Col. Travis Pond, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, said it’s a significant milestone in the careers of these senior NCOs. “We congratulate our members selected for promotion to the rank of senior master sergeant,” he said. “And a special ‘thank you’ to the family members, mentors, supervisors and friends that supported these exceptional senior NCOs.
