National Museum of U.S. Air Force to close Feb. 13 for emergency management response training Published Jan. 22, 2024 By Lisa M Riley DAYTON, Ohio -- The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will be closed on Tuesday, Feb.13 to conduct annual emergency management response training. Emergency response agencies from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and nearby communities will participate in this training exercise those traveling near the museum on Feb. 13 may experience emergency vehicles, alert sirens, temporarily blocked roadways or travel delays, and should plan accordingly. According to National Museum of the U.S. Air Force Director David Tillotson III, safety and security are always the museum’s top priorities. "Conducting annual emergency management response training is extremely important for all organizations, particularly those that welcome the public on a regular basis such as the museum," said Tillotson. "We understand that the temporary closure may be an inconvenience for some visitors, but this is a necessary step to ensure that we continue to be prepared should an urgent situation arise." The museum will re-open to the public on Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, is the world’s largest military aviation museum. With free admission and parking, the museum features more than 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles and thousands of artifacts amid more than 19 acres of indoor exhibit space.
