WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Air Force Sergeants Association Kittyhawk Chapter 751 hosted their annual holiday party at the Dayton Veterans Affairs (VA) campus on December 2, 2023. Judy Garcia, the VA Center for Development and Civic Engagement representative for the AFSA chapter, planned the event. The Air and Space Forces Association, Wright Memorial Chapter 212, supported the event with both funding and manpower. The Kearney Company donated a large amount of holiday candy.

The holiday event was the first one hosted by AFSA at the Dayton VA since the pandemic.  Volunteers decorated the venue to provide a festive holiday atmosphere and took their places on the serving line while the 45 RPM’s, a musical guitar duo, sang Christmas carols as well as hits from the 60’s and 70’s. The veterans who are inpatients for various clinical rehabilitation and treatment programs took a break from their routine to enjoy the catered barbeque lunch with Airmen and other volunteers from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Current active-duty members had the opportunity to share their military experiences with the veterans. Some vets played cornhole while others got their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Everyone had a great time.

AFSA Chapter 751 meets the first Tuesday of the month, at 11:30 a.m., at the Wright-Patterson USO building.  Be advised, the meeting in January will take place on January 9 due to the New Years holiday.  More information can be obtained by email at AFSA751@yahoo.com.
