WRIGHT- PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The 88th Air Base Wing Security Forces Squadron will host a week-long celebration of defenders with events and ceremonies during National Police Week, May 15-19, 2023.
The week will include a series of memorials and competitions to pay respect, honor and remembrance to local and base law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifice.

For events requiring base access, media must provide each attendee’s name as stated on their driver’s license, driver’s license number and state of issuance. A meet up location and map will be provided with all confirmations.
Monday, May 15
7:15 a.m. Opening Ceremony: Base leadership will provide opening remarks. Proclamation to be signed by Col. Christopher Meeker, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, and Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck.

8:45 a.m. K9 Obedience Competition: 88 SFS K-9 teams will compete for top honors.

Wednesday, May 17
3:30 p.m. Police EXPO: Come out to the Prairies base housing community park to see the latest technology and equipment local law enforcement agencies and 88 SFS Defenders use to keep communities safe.

Thursday, May 18
8:30 a.m. Defender’s Challenge: Teams of three to five members will battle in a series of physical challenges with a 25-pound weighted vest to see who can take the top-three spots. This event is open to all military organizations and law enforcement agencies, to include civilians.

Friday, May 19
6:45 a.m. Ruck to Remember: Join 88 SFS in a 5K ruck march to honor the fallen.
* Media must RSVP by 4 p.m. Thursday, May 18.
10:30 a.m. Closing Ceremony and Wreath Laying Ceremony: 88 SFS will close out Police Week with a formal remembrance ceremony.
