Competitors set to go for inaugural Museum Mile

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Runners and walkers are eyeing the first-ever Museum Mile on May 11.

The event honors the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force’s 100th anniversary. Registration continues through race day or until entries are filled.

Hosted by the Air Force Marathon, the 1-mile, family-friendly event will take place at the museum and showcase three races: open, women’s elite and men’s elite. Packet pickup starts at 5 p.m. and races begin at 6:30.

Participants will follow a course winding through museum grounds before finishing under the wingtips of historic aircraft at the Air Park.

Competitors must be 4 or older on race day for open-event eligibility. The cutoff is 14 and older on May 11 for an elite race. Each 1-mile finisher will receive a limited-edition 16-ounce pint glass.

Registration is $35 per entry.

Attending media should meet an 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs representatives at the Air Park entrance near the parking lot outside the main museum complex no later than 6:15 p.m. Thursday.
