WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, consumer prices rose 6.5% last year. As the cost of living increases, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service is prioritizing savings for Airmen and their families with everyday military-exclusive pricing and tax-free purchases.

Wright-Patterson Exchange shoppers – including retirees, disabled veterans, and Department of Defense and Coast Guard civilians – can shop name brands such as LG, Bose, Yeti, Hydro Flask, Gap, Old Navy, American Eagle, Aerie and more at up to 20% off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Service members and their families can save even more on everyday essentials including kitchenware, home goods, clothing and household products by choosing Exchange-exclusive brands such as Exchange Select and Simply Perfect.

“It matters where you shop,” Wright-Patterson Exchange General Manager Adam Shaw said. “The Wright-Patterson Exchange is all in to ensure that those who serve receive more for their money when using their hard-earned benefit at the BX or online.”

For added savings, shoppers can use their MILITARY STAR card to save 5 cents per gallon at Express gas stations and take 10% off at Exchange restaurants while earning rewards points that add up to even more. New cardholders also receive 10% off first-day purchases.

The MILITARY STAR card is accepted at all military exchanges and commissaries and offers:

  • One low annual percentage rate, regardless of credit score.
  • Free shipping at ShopMyExchange.com and myNavyExchange.com
  • No annual, late or over-limit fees
  • Budgeting tools such as Pay Your Way Plans, which give shoppers fixed monthly payments at reduced interest.

Honorably discharged veterans can also use their hard-earned benefit to shop tax-free at ShopMyExchange.com.

Shoppers not only save at the Exchange, but they also give. All Exchange earnings support military communities. In the last 10 years, the Exchange benefit has provided $3.5 billion in earnings worldwide to critical on-installation quality-of-life programs.

MILITARY STAR shoppers get double points every month at Express locations

Airmen and families at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base can receive an extra bonus each month when they use their MILITARY STAR card at AAFES Express stores.

On the 15th of every month, cardholders can pick up double rewards points on all purchases at the Express, earning four points per $1 instead of the regular two.

Rewards points are earned everywhere the card is accepted, including all military exchanges, commissaries, ShopMyExchange.com, myNavyExchange.com, ShopCGX.com and Exchange mall vendors. Shoppers automatically receive a $20 digital rewards card every time they earn 2,000 points. In 2021, shoppers received $34.4 million in rewards cards.

“Double points at the Express are a midmonth bonus to say ‘thank you’ to our cardholders,” Shaw said. “This offer will help Wright-Patterson shoppers get their next $20 digital rewards card even faster as they grab a hot or cold beverage or a healthy snack from the Express.”

The MILITARY STAR card is an exclusive line of credit for service members and their families to use at exchanges and commissaries – no matter where they serve. Other card benefits include:

  • 10% discount on all first-day purchases for new cardholders
  • 5 cents off every gallon of gas at Exchange fuel locations
  • 10% off food purchases at participating Exchange restaurants
  • Reduced-interest deployment plan with no payments required for eligible customers

Rewards exclude the military clothing plan. For more information, see a store associate or visit MyECP.com.
